Bob Shaw has been a Licensed Professional Counselor and therapist since Counselor registration was initiated in 1986.
He is a veteran of the United States Navy, and was an administrator and faculty member at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire for 34 years.
After leaving UWEC Bob served as Forensic Court Liaison with the Wisconsin Department of Health, and worked as a Family Military Life Consultant for the Department of Defense for three years. Bob was an active clinician with Heinz Psychological Services in Eau Claire for seven years. He also served for almost a decade on the Eau Claire City Council and City County Board of Health.
While at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, Bob served as Associate Director of Financial Aid, Associate Professor, and Dean of Students. His accomplishments in this position were many and varied and included:

Working structurally and individually on student life issues with a student body of 10,000 people, and collaboratively with Employee Assistance support with faculty and staff of over 600 individuals.

Assisted with the recruitment and supervision of University faculty, staff, and students.

Also assisted in the development, implementation, and review of recruitment and retention efforts affecting students, faculty, and staff

Served as the primary source of referral and expertise for students experiencing personal, social, emotional, academic problems and behavioral problems

Counseled extensively with students, faculty, and staff on personal, social development, judicial, and academic issues

Coordinated the University’s Crisis Management Plan, collaborating with internal and external agencies; as such, he assisted individuals experiencing unexpected events and trauma, including illness, sickness, injury, loss of loved ones, death, and suicide

Coordinated the management and follow up of mental health support/intervention services provided to students experiencing problems and difficulties

Worked extensively in the area of alcohol and drug prevention and intervention

Served as a member of the UW System’s AODA Committee.

Chaired the UW-Eau Claire’s AODA Task Force
